What is Energy Management?
We all want to be more productive in our lives, right? Therefore, we are constantly searching for ways or techniques to maximize our time and produce better results. Sometimes it may look like squeezing more things in our interminable to-do list, and somehow we keep pushing ourselves harder to keep up with life. As a result, we increasingly feel that we are reaching our breaking point.
I will be the first to confess that my to-do list was so long that just by opening the list, it gave me stress! ;) I decided to take matters in my own hands, rolled my sleeves and changed my strategy once and for all. I created my energy management plan combined with time management skills, and it has been a game changer for me. As a happy single mom, with limited time and with the necessity of conserving my energy for my little lady, I’ve had to choose wisely what are the actions that are absolutely necessary today, check in with my energy, take action, and adjust accordingly if needed.
I believe it makes a difference when you start getting to know yourself better and how you recharge your personal energy. For example, are you an introvert, extrovert, ambivert? If you are an introvert, you recharge your energy by being by yourself. You like people, but cannot engage for long periods of time, because your energy gets consumed really fast.
If you are an extrovert, you feel the need to engage with people and when by yourself your energy tends to run low, and you feel energized when you are around other human beings. On the other hand, if you are an ambivert, you like to be with people, but also like to be by yourself. You are able to recharge your energy with both scenarios.
Everybody is different, and that is why general techniques or tactics do not work for all of us. I believe the key here is awareness and learning how to manage your energy! When you are aware of your personality type, how you operate, how your energy levels fluctuate during the day, and create an energy and time management plan that goes along with your circumstances and stage of life, the results are short of amazing! Why? You open up to explore, discover and change your ways to become more productive, realistic and happy!
